Philosophy of Teaching and Learning

In my teaching philosophy, I believe that children are multifaceted beings with traits of exploration, learning, happiness, playfulness, imagination, fearlessness, activity, resourcefulness, innocence and energy. Through the course “it’s not about easy…it's about following the child,” i learned the importance of following a child's lead, understanding and recognizing that children learn most effectively through the play they engage in. This philosophy encourages and gives children the freedom to explore their interests as they see fit, having the educator create opportunities to deepen children's knowledge and understanding by asking questions to expand on the various learning opportunities.

In my view, the educator's role is a support system to provide encouragement, resources, and support for families. Educators enhance the children's learning through exploring their interests. "How Does Learning Happen" has affected my view because it gave me a better understanding of how the environment and educators affect children's learning. I will use this approach as an evaluation tool to ensure that every child's needs are met. "Every child deserves a champion: an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best they possibly can be, Rita Pierson. This quote has impacted my view in big ay because it shows me that educators play a significant role in encouraging and inspiring children. This quote makes me want to inspire kids so much more because they are capable of doing amazing things, they need someone to believe in them, and this is my job.

The educator role is one that I view as supportive, providing encouragement, resources and assistance to both children and families. Insights from “How Does Learning Happen,” i have developed a deeper understanding of the impact of the environment and the educators have on children's learning. This approach also serves as an evaluation tool to ensure that every child's needs are met and that the learning environment is inclusive and promotes healthy growth. I strive to create an environment that is welcoming, supportive, accepting, caring and encouraging, one where every child feels a sense of belonging and safety to explore and learn.

Rita Pierson's quote, “every child deserves a champion…,” resonates deeply with me, emphasising the educator's vital role in inspiring and encouraging children to reach their full potential. It is my desire to be that champion for each child, believing in their capabilities, and providing support.

Families and communities play an integral role in a child's development. Understanding the important role they play has encouraged me to ensure that the environment in which children learn , grow and develop is an inclusive environment. Creating an open door policy that welcomes parental involvement and community engagement i aim to create an interconnected relationship and support for the holistic development of every child. When working for diverse families and unique communities are welcomed into the learning environment the child is well nurtured and care for, therefore enriching children's learning experiences and overall well being.
